2022 Field Day

We need your help! Come out and lend a hand to prepare the field for the summer season! Bring any yard equipment you have (rakes, shovels, wheel barrows, etc.).

When: Saturday, May 21 from 8AM-12PM

Where: Manzano Field

Some tasks include: bleacher repairs, foul lines, painting foul poles, hanging widescreens, weed removal, and infield/outfield maintenance.

2022 Season

We are gearing up to have a 2022 summer season with things looking greener every day!

Registration is open now through SERP for SERP-eligible employees and dependents. Whether you’re returning to your old team, looking for a new team, or completely new to the league, make sure to reach out to your coach or sign up on our recruiting page ! May 27 is the last day to register a team, with games scheduled to start weekday evenings the week of June 6th. Games will be played on base, so individual access for each player is required.

2018 End of Season Picnic

The league will be hosting its annual end-of-season picnic for 2018 on Wednesday, September 19, with a backup date of Thursday, September 20 for inclement weather. The event will be held at the softball fields and will begin at 5:30 PM. The highlight of the event will be an all-star game beginning at 6:00 PM. End-of-season awards, Hall of Fame inductions, and our summer season tournament winners will also be celebrated.

New By-Laws and Rules of Play

The SLSA and SSSL executive committees have voted to update their guidance documents for the 2018 season, including the constitution, by-laws, and rules of play. The newest version of the documents can be found on the documents page. A list of major changes is also available.

Summer 2018 Season Sign-Up Announcements

The spring/summer 2018 season is quickly approaching! Whether you’re returning to your old team, looking for a new team, or completely new to the league, make sure to reach our to your coach or the execs and secure your spot on a team! Key dates are below:
– Monday, April 9 — Early registration deadline
– Saturday, April 21 — Field day
– Monday, April 23 — Final registration deadline
– Monday, May 7 — Opening day

If you’re new to the league or simply looking for a new team team, sign up on our recruiting page and somebody will contact within a couple of days.

Remember, a wide variety of folks are eligible to play Sandia Softball, including Sandians, Sandia contractors, Kirtland AFB employees and active duty, DOE employees, and spouses, dependents, and retirees.

End of the Year Picnic – September 13

The Sandia Labs Softball Association will be hosing an end-of-the-year picnic to celebrate a great summer season, to kick off the fall ball season, and to welcome new players to the league.  The picnic will be held at the Manzano Fields on September 13, 2016 starting at 5:30 PM.  We’ll have:

  • Grilled food and side dishes
  • All-Star games (one for each league)
  • Fun activities for the whole family
  • Awards

Lunch and Catch – April 20

Interested in playing softball this summer, but your arm is a bit out of shape? Join the Sandia Softball Association for a Lunch & Catch event 11:30-1:00 on Wednesday, April 20 at the Manzano Fields. We’ll provide food and a few extra gloves, so come check out our fields, dust off the glove, and find a team for the season, which begins May 2. Summer Season Kickoff Pizza Lunch

Softball is finally back so get your gloves and bats ready!

Games will start May 2.  If you’re new to the league, we encourage you to join us for the kickoff meeting on Monday, March 21 at 11:30 AM in 822/105.  Come ask questions and get acquainted with the league.  New players of all skill levels and new teams are highly encouraged to participate.  The field is conveniently located on base and games start at 5:30 pm or later.

Sandia Softball would like to thank everyone for their participation this season. As the Spring/Summer League concludes, the execs want to give a heartfelt THANK YOU for making the season hugely successful! We have seen league growth, field improvement, and an increase in executive participation and direction which have all contributed to a fantastic year!

In appreciation for your participation, support, and commitment, Sandia Softball would like to welcome the teams, fans, families, and potential players to attend the second annual: End of the Year Fan Appreciation Party. The league will be providing free food, conducting the HOF ceremony, awards presentation, skills competitions, events for kids, and yard games on September 30th starting at 5:30 at the field.

Please continue to support the league and make this event a huge success.

  • The Skills Competition includes 3 Home Run Derbies:
    • Main Event (unrestricted participating, hit from home plate)
    • White Tees (open to players without any regular season home runs, hit from the mound)
    • Women’s (open to all women, hit from near second base)
  • The Awards Packet includes: HOF Nomination, Captain of the Year, Player of the Year, Sportsmanship Awards.

Details for the SLSA Skills Competitions 2014 and Annual Awards for Sandia League Softball can be found by clicking on the links to those Word documents. Skills competition folks should show up early that day to register or email Lance (llmille@sandia.gov) in advance. Coaches, please look over the awards and help us nominate Captain of the Year, Player of the Year, and Sportsmanship Awards. The application is not intended to be exhaustive and would go a long way in promoting league objectives. The execs respectfully ask for your submission COB, Friday, September 18th.
